AEO Content Optimization Agents: Webflow Automates Your SEO/AEO Briefs

TL;DR

Webflow is rolling out AI agents that analyze your AEO data, detect topics where competitors get cited and you do not, then generate a brief and article draft directly in your CMS.

Webflow launches AI agents that spot your content blind spots and generate ready-to-publish briefs and drafts

What Webflow just launched

Since May, Webflow AEO has promised a closed loop between measurement and action: knowing how your brand shows up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini answers, then fixing the technical gaps. Today, Webflow adds the missing piece: agents that can actually generate content, not just optimize it technically.

In practice, these new content agents spot the topics where your competitors are cited by answer engines and you are not. They draw on your existing AEO analytics data, read your sites structure and existing content, and use the business context you provide. The result: every recommendation starts from your tone, your positioning, your market.

How it works, in three steps

The process is designed to stay simple despite the technical work happening underneath:

  • Recommendations — the agent identifies priority content opportunities, especially topics where competitors are winning citations and you are not.
  • Brief generation — a chosen topic becomes a structured brief, ready to refine.
  • Draft creation — a full article draft is generated directly as a new CMS item, ready for review.

Nothing gets published automatically: every step stays under human control, which avoids the trap of content running on autopilot.

Who can access it, and how to get started

This first wave of content agents is reserved for Enterprise customers with the Analyze add-on. Before any recommendations show up, two settings are essential: turn on prompt tracking for the topics you want to be cited on, and add your competitors along with your organizations context in the settings. Once both are done, recommendations appear under the Insights tab, in the AEO recommendations section, complete with the reasoning behind each suggestion.

Step What the agent does What stays human
Recommendations Detects citation gaps against competitors Validating strategic priority
Brief Structures a topic into an editorial brief Adjusting angle and tone
Draft Writes a full draft in the CMS Review, editing, publishing

Mazette.co's take

On principle, this is excellent news. Visibility in answer engines is becoming a real business issue, not a conference buzzword. We already touched on this when Webflow AEO Analytics opened up to Claude and Gemini: measuring is good, acting on it quickly is better. These agents fill that gap.

What we particularly like: everything stays native to Webflow. No third-party plugin, no tedious export-import between a monitoring tool and your CMS. The agent reads your site, understands your structure, and pushes a draft straight into the CMS. For an agency like Mazette.co, this changes the game in how we support our clients editorially: less time lost spotting opportunities, more time on what really matters — the angle, the proof, the brand voice.

Our one reservation, unsurprisingly: it is limited to Enterprise with the Analyze add-on. A logical choice on Webflow's end — that is where the richest data lives — but it leaves out plenty of sites that would actually benefit from structuring their content for AEO before they have the budget for an Enterprise plan. We hope for a gradual rollout, as has happened with other parts of the product.

Another point we consistently raise with our clients: an AI-generated draft is still a draft. The temptation to publish as-is always exists, especially when the topic looks relevant and well-sourced. Our position has not changed: AI excels at spotting blind spots and structuring a first pass, but brand voice, concrete proof, and nuance remain human work. That is exactly the philosophy behind our SEO expertise at Mazette.co: equip yourself with every tool available, but never outsource editorial judgment.

In short: a coherent, well-thought-out step forward that brings AEO measurement and action closer together than ever. For now, reserved for accounts with the budget and the data to make the most of it. Everyone else will keep doing this work by hand — or with an agency that knows where to look.
