Figma announced that Google Drive is now connected to the Figma agent, available on all plans. In practice, your Figma agent can now access your Google Drive files directly from the prompt window, just as it already knows how to pull up a Figma file, a FigJam note or Figma Slides content.
This announcement follows on from the Figma agent reaching general availability in early October 2026. Figma had already rolled out cross platform file search and the ability to attach documents via the prompt’s "+" button. Google Drive now joins the list of sources the agent can tap into to understand your working context.
You connect your Google Drive account to your Figma account once, from the agent’s connection settings. From then on, in any conversation with the Figma agent, you can reference a document, spreadsheet or image stored on Drive, without leaving the interface or copying and pasting content by hand.
The benefit becomes obvious the moment you work as a team: a brief written by the project manager in Google Docs, a content list in a Sheet, reference visuals sent over by the client. All of that often lives on Drive, far from Figma. Until now, you had to export it, copy it, or describe it to the agent by hand. Now, the agent goes and fetches it directly.
| Before this update | With Google Drive connected |
|---|---|
| Manual copy-pasting of Drive content into the prompt | The agent fetches the Drive file directly |
| Context limited to files already in Figma | Context extended to Drive documents, sheets and images |
| Only available on certain plans for other connections | Available on all plans, Starter included |
At Mazette.co, we use Figma every day, on both web design and product design projects. And we find this integration genuinely smart, for one simple reason: context friction is the real barrier to using an AI agent on a daily basis. An agent that keeps asking "can you give me the brief" breaks your flow. An agent that goes and fetches it itself from the client’s Drive does not.
In our projects, product specs, written content and client feedback very often end up on Google Drive, not in Figma. Being able to tell the agent "look at the content document shared on Drive" instead of retyping it is a real time saver, especially during scoping phases or design system work, where written context matters just as much as the visuals.
Another thing worth noting: Figma makes this connection available on all plans, Starter included. That fits a pattern we have seen across several recent updates: widening access to the agent’s context features, while the more resource intensive uses (image and video generation) remain tied to AI credit consumption. Good news for teams just getting started with Figma without an Enterprise backup.

If you are running a design system or a SaaS product with multiple stakeholders, this integration is worth a look. It closes the gap between where information actually lives (Drive, more often than not) and where it gets turned into an interface (Figma). And in a workflow where the Figma agent keeps gaining ground, every additional connected context source makes the output more faithful to your product reality, and less generic.
We are keeping an eye on what comes next: Figma also announced guidelines to govern how the agent behaves with your design libraries. Combined with a Drive connection, this richer context approach points toward an agent that feels less and less detached, and more and more grounded in your actual working documents.
