iPhone Duo presets in Figma: designing for Apple’s foldable

TL;DR

Figma now includes ready-to-use frame presets for the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18, available in the properties panel, prototype settings, and Figma Make. A quiet but strategic update for any designer who needs to get ahead of foldable screens without wasting time setting up frames by hand.

Figma adds iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 templates everywhere you design and prototype

An update that looks unassuming but says a lot

On October 23, 2026, Figma quietly added two new frame presets to its library: iPhone Duo and iPhone 18. Nothing as flashy as an AI agent launch or a new product release. And yet this announcement deserves a closer look, especially if you design mobile interfaces on a daily basis.

Behind this slightly cryptic name, iPhone Duo, lies the foldable format Apple is reportedly preparing. True to form, Figma anticipates how its users will work and has already built the official dimensions into its design tools. It is basically saying: get ready, the foldable is coming, and you will not have to guess the right proportions.

What this update actually changes

The new presets are not tucked away in a single corner of the interface. Figma has rolled them out everywhere a designer can choose a mobile format, which genuinely improves the day-to-day workflow:

  • In the properties panel, when creating a new standard frame
  • In the properties panel, when creating a code layer
  • In prototype settings, for testing user flows
  • In the device selector of the Figma Make preview
  • In the full screen view of code layers

In practice, there is no need to hunt for exact measurements on a forum or improvise an approximate ratio. The template is right there, ready to use, with the correct dimensions from the start.

Before this update With the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 presets
Dimensions to look up or estimate manually Official template built in natively
Risk of errors on the foldable format’s ratios Guaranteed consistency across design, prototype, and code
Only one spot to configure at a time Available in frames, prototypes, Make, and code layers

Why Figma is moving this early

This kind of foresight fits a broader pattern we have been seeing from Figma for months: staying as close as possible to real-world usage, often before the physical product is even officially available. We already saw this with the developments around Figma Motion and generative tools, where the platform adapts to new product design habits at an almost unsettling pace.

For a designer, this changes how you prepare a project. Rather than discovering a new format once the device officially launches and having to scramble to adjust everything, the template is already available ahead of time. The time saved is not trivial when you are juggling multiple screens on a product project.

What Mazette.co thinks

{{webdesign}}

At Mazette.co, Figma is our everyday working tool, whether we are building interfaces, prototyping flows, or preparing pixel-precise Webflow integrations. So naturally, this kind of update speaks to us directly.

Our take is clear: this is good news, and not just for the time saved. The real benefit lies elsewhere. By building these presets in before the device even hits the market, Figma is pushing the whole industry to think earlier about the design implications of a foldable screen: how to manage visual continuity between the two panels, how to adapt a grid that stays coherent on an unusual format, how to anticipate touch interactions around a hinge. These are product design questions that deserve to be raised in advance, not discovered in a panic on launch day.

For our clients, this means one simple thing: if a project tomorrow calls for designing a mobile experience on a foldable format, we will already have the right playground ready, with no last-minute improvising. That is exactly the kind of detail that, combined with others, makes the difference between a well thought-out interface and a patched-together one.

One caveat, though: as of today, the iPhone Duo remains a product that Apple has not officially confirmed. We therefore recommend treating these presets as a space for exploration and monitoring rather than a firm production baseline, as long as the specs are not set in stone. But for prototyping, testing ideas, and stress-testing a design system internally, it is an excellent starting point.

If you are working on a project where the mobile experience is central, this is also a good moment to check that your design system is flexible enough to absorb this kind of novelty without having to be rebuilt from scratch. That is exactly what we challenge on every project at Mazette.co.
