Managing a multilingual site often feels like a never-ending race. A page changes, you need to retranslate. A product gets added to the catalog, you need to retranslate again. Webflow just announced an update that tackles this problem head-on: agentic translation, built into Webflow Localize.
Until now, turning on a new language in Webflow Localize meant a fair amount of manual work. You had to identify yourself which content needed translating, page by page, field by field. For a team updating its site regularly, that meant thousands of repetitive clicks. The result: slower market launches, and translations that kept falling behind the source content.
Agentic translation changes that. AI agents now take on all or part of this work, with two modes to choose from depending on how much control you want to keep.
Two new features support this system, and they are far from minor details.
Exclusion rules let you flag in advance the pages, components, CMS fields, or props you never want translated: product references, SKUs, internal fields. This content is filtered out before it is even sent to an AI model, and it is never exposed to the translation process.
Translation memory, meanwhile, prevents the AI from retranslating content that has already been translated if the source text, language, and settings have not changed. A simple way to save processing time and keep consistency across your already-approved copy.
| Translation mode | Content updates | Ideal use case |
|---|---|---|
| One-time translation | Manual, needs to be relaunched by you | Stable content, human review preferred |
| Continuous translation | Automatic with every change | Sites with frequently updated content |
Agentic translation is configured directly in your target language settings, within Webflow Localize. It is included on all Localize plans, and translated words count toward your plan quota, shared across your different languages. If you go over that quota, AI credits can kick in. For the full details on quotas and configuration, head to the official Webflow Pricing page or the dedicated help center.

At Mazette.co, we follow announcements like this one very closely. Why? Because we regularly work with clients who want to launch their site internationally, and translation is often the bottleneck of the whole project.
Continuous translation, in particular, strikes us as the real standout idea in this update. It addresses a genuine pain point we see on the ground: how many multilingual sites end up with an up-to-date English version and a French version lagging three updates behind? It is a problem we have seen with several clients, and it directly damages the user experience, not to mention SEO.
Exclusion rules, for their part, are essential, and Webflow was right to think of them from day one. Without that safeguard, it is easy to imagine SKUs or internal codes being mistakenly translated, with very real operational consequences for an e-commerce site or a complex product catalog.
Our only reservation: as with any AI translation, caution is still needed in markets with strong cultural or legal specificities (legal notices, industry-specific terminology). Automation is a fantastic time-saver, not a full substitute for human proofreading on strategic pages. This is exactly where working with an agency still makes all the difference: deciding what to automate, what needs a human eye, and how to set the tone so your brand stays recognizable in every language.
At its core, this update confirms a trend we have been noticing at Webflow for several months now: AI is no longer a side gadget, it is being built into the heart of the workflow, with safeguards designed for real professional use cases. This is exactly the kind of evolution that makes Webflow increasingly relevant for ambitious international projects.

Beyond the feature itself, this announcement is a good prompt to rethink how a multilingual site is structured from the very beginning. A site built with well-organized components and a clean CMS will get far more benefit from agentic translation than one pieced together on the fly. It is one more reason to invest in a clean architecture from the start, rather than trying to fix things after the fact.
