A Webflow Component is the evolution of Symbols, adding variant management and properties that can be edited individually on each instance (text, image, block visibility...). This makes it possible to reuse the same structure while adapting it to each context, somewhat like a React component. It is the building block that brings Webflow closest to a true design system logic.
Symbols were an element or group of elements reusable across the whole site: editing one updated it everywhere, with no variants and no per-instance properties. Webflow replaced them with Components, which keep that principle and add this flexibility.

A component is a reusable block you build once and use across the site, such as a card or a header. It succeeds Symbols and adds properties and variants, so each instance can change its text, image or visibility.
Select the elements you want to reuse, right-click and choose Create component, then name it. Open the component to add properties for text, images, links or visibility, and variants if you need different looks. Then drop instances anywhere on the site.
