On October 26, 2026, Figma opened access to Figma Weave video and image models directly from the Figma MCP. In practical terms: if you have a Figma Weave account connected to your Figma account, your external AI agent (the one you already use for coding, documentation, or automation) can now generate videos and images with models like Seedance, Kling, or Nano Banana, without ever opening Figma.
Until now, Weave lived in its own space: a dedicated tool for AI-generated imagery, video, and audio. With this update, its models become a resource that any MCP compatible agent can call, the same way it would call a codebase or an API. You stay in your chat, you ask for an image or a video, and Weave produces it behind the scenes.
The Figma MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the bridge Figma has been building for several months between its products and external AI agents: Claude, and other compatible tools. It already lets you create code layers, edit specs, or generate images on the Figma canvas. This new addition adds a specific piece: Weave entire model catalog becomes one more capability the MCP exposes.
To use it, you need an active Figma Weave account connected to your Figma account. Once connected, your external agent sees the available models and can invoke them in natural language, right within the conversation. Every generation, whether it comes from Weave directly or from this new MCP path, consumes Weave credits. For quotas and eligible plans, Figma official pricing page remains the reference.
| Before this update | Since October 26, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Weave accessible only within its own Figma space | Weave accessible from any Figma MCP compatible agent |
| Image and video generation controlled within the Figma interface | Generation controlled in natural language, from the external agent chat |
| Available models: Seedance, Kling, Nano Banana, within Weave | Same models, callable without opening Figma |
| Weave credits consumed within Figma | Weave credits consumed regardless of entry point |
Let us be honest: this announcement will not shake up your product roadmap, but it says something important about the direction Figma is heading. The MCP is no longer just a technical bridge for exporting code or specs, it is becoming the single entry point into the entire Figma ecosystem, Weave included. And for teams already working with AI agents day to day, that is a genuine simplification.
In our product design projects, we use Figma as the backbone: design system, prototyping, then dev mode. Being able to trigger an image or video generation without stepping out of the agent workflow means fewer context switches, less copy pasting between tools, and ultimately real time saved on tasks that used to require juggling three different windows.
The thing to watch, though, is credits. As is often the case with Figma AI features, ease of use can quickly drive up consumption if nobody keeps an eye on it. Our advice: before plugging this integration into a team workflow, clarify who has access, for what purpose, and with what credit budget. This is exactly the kind of setup we systematically recommend when building a design system or a product interface for our clients.

If you already work with an MCP compatible AI agent for development or documentation, this update expands what you can ask it to do without switching tools. For a product team iterating quickly on mockups or visual assets, this is a concrete opportunity to shorten the loop between an idea and a usable visual.
At Mazette.co, we stick to a simple principle with every new Figma AI feature: it should serve the project efficiency, never the other way around. A solid design system and a user focused interface remain the foundation; AI tools speed up execution, they do not replace upfront product thinking.
